In the spirit of the upcoming Westfield 2-Person Best Ball Tournament, I thought I would start a discussion on different formats to see how the participating (potential players) players might like to the format. There a few options below but feel free to add your own version. The more we discuss ahead of the event, the better it is for everyone.
Option 1: Similar to the Deer Crossing event at Cedar Valley, Saturday is all about SKINS only. Flights will be determined after the 1st Day of the event. There would be no skins on Sunday. What makes this unique is it keeps teams from "kind of sandbagging" as the pay-off of a skin (by flight) can almost pay for the entry fee alone.
Option 2: Leave the format as it is. Teams are flighted prior to the tourney based on their handicaps, as determined by the last revision the tournament committee so chooses. Team "trading" would take place on Thursday after Men's league. Dinner remains on Saturday evening.
Option 3: Team "trading" takes place on Friday as in the past after Men's league with one caveat, the first team that is "traded" for the highest amount, whover wins that trade get's to select the team they would like to be the CEO of because they think that team has the best chance of winning. The rest of the evening, trading for teams go as in the past. Format of the tournament goes unchanged.
Option 4: Team "trading" takes place on Friday as in the past and flights are pre-determined by the tournament\handicap committee. However, the format of the tourney changes from best ball on (Saturday) to a 2-person scramble on Sunday. Skins occur on both days. Dinner occurs on Saturday evening as in the past.
Option 5: Keep the tournament as it always has been but only take 80% of a person's handicap.
Thoughts?
